Diese Koralle ist eine Unterart der großen Gattung Montipora. Sie ist wie alle anderen Montipora Arten recht leicht in einem gut und vorallem stabil laufenden Aquarium zu halten. Sie benötigt viel Strömung und wie alle Korallen auch viel Licht. Sie ernährt sich nur von ihren Zooxanthellen und wächst eher Flach über das Riffgestein.
